To the Worshipful his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex in their General
Quarter Session of the Peace Assembled

WE the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Luke Chelsea
in the said County whose names are hereunto subscribed and sit.

Humbly Certify to this Court that on the Twenty Ninth day of June last We the said Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor by Virtue of the within Warrant Entered into and upon the House or
Tenement withinmentioned now in the Tenure or Occupation of David Egleton< no role > Situate in
Church Lane near the Church in the said Parish and then and there demurded of him the
said David Egleton< no role > payment of the Sum of Two Pounds and fifteen Shillings being
rent for the said House or Tenement for one Quarter of a year ending at Midsummer Day
now last past We the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor intending to apply
dispose of the same as in and by the said within written Warrant is directed And we further
Certify to this Court that upon our entering into the said House or Tenement as aforesaid for the purpose aforesaid
the said David Egleton< no role > then and there declared to us the said Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poor that he had previously paid the said Rent or Sum of two Pounds and fifteen
Shillings to the within named John Kerr< no role > But he the said David Egleton< no role > then and
there refused to Shew us a discharge for the said Rent or Sum of Two Pounds and
fifteen Shillings or for any part thereof from the said John Kerr< no role > or any person or persons
authorized by the said John Kerr< no role > to receive the said Rent and give such discharge
for the same Although We then and there requested him the said David Egleton< no role > to
shew us such Discharge Therefore we have great reason to believe that the said David
Egleton
< no role > hath not paid the said Rent or Sum of two Pounds and fifteen shillings but that
the same is now in arrear and unpaid And We the said Churchwardens Overseers
of the Poor being willing and inclined to Execute the within warrant according to the intent
and Meaning thereof and apprehending that we cannot be duly authorized so to do Unless
the said Warrant shall be previously confirmed by this Court.

Therefore We the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor most humbly
Pray that this Court will be pleased to confirm the said within written warrant
And that this Court will also be pleased to make an Order for us the said
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor to receive the Rent of the said House or
Tenement belonging to the said John Kerr< no role > and in the Tenure or Occupation
of the said David Egleton< no role > aforesaid And that the said David Egleton< no role > may
be Ordered to attend this Court on some day in this present Session to shew Cause
why he should not be Ordered to pay us the said Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poor or to some or One of us such Part of the said Rent now due or hereafter
to become due for or on Account of the said House or Tenement as this Court shall
think fit for the purposes in the said within written Warrant mentioned and
