Waiter of different Sorts to be laid into each Passage for Cleanliness and
"to prevent Fires. Engine placed in the same Four Sinks in each Passage
"and Channels made to convey away the foul Water

"Hews from the Fires below to warm some of the Apartments Iron
"Gates next the Stairs, and other parts introduced for separation instead of
"doors. The Pilbys to be property detached in each Story and to communicate
"with the Open Air.

"Enclosures

"Where the Buildings or New Prison do not interfere High Walls to be
"built to enclose the same with Iron Tormentors on the Tops thereof.

"The space before the front Gateway will be convenient in case of any
"Insurrection to guard the entrance of the Prison either by Soldiers or
"otherwise

"I Loroux Architect
"Great Russell Street Bloomy. 1784

" Some of the Upper Cells when not occupied as Lodging Rooms
"may be used as Working Rooms occasionally where seperate labour
"is to be preferred.

"By this plan it appears that one part may be executed on the
"Quakers Ground immediately and the Prisoners removed thereto
"and the other with equal Propriety when the Buildings are hereafter
"taken down

It appears by this Design that a Currency of Air is preserved
"through the whole Plan and also a Connection with the external Air

"Adjoining Land may be had of the Woodbridge Corporation
"which will extend the Drying Ground Airing Ground Etc Etc"

Upon due consideration It is the Opinion of Your Committee that
the Plan marked A is the best of those produced and is a very proper
Plan of a House of Correction for this County adapted to the Ground
purchased of the Quakers

Your Committee then requested Mr Leroux to lay before them at
their next Meeting an Estimate of the expence of carrying the Plan marked A into
execution in consequence of which Mr. Leroux laid before Your Committee
a Parper of which the following is a Copy
