On the prosecution of Alice Gaul< no role > an Infant under the Age of 7
Years for feloniously Assaulting & Carnaly abusing her

Francis Gaul< no role > (Father of the said Alice) of Mile End New Town in
the parish of St. Dunstan Stepney in the County of Middx Weaver and William Smith< no role > of
White Chapple in the Parish of St. Mary Matfellon in the said County Surgeon and
Apothecary severally make Oath and say, And first this Deponent Francis Gaul
for himself saith that this Depont. on the Twenty third day of March last Entered
into Recognizance to prosecute the said Francis Sequien< no role > als. Anthony for the
Felony aforesaid at this present Session, And this Depont. further saith that the
Mother of the said Francis Sequien als. Anthony having on Saturday the 17th.
day of April instant had on Interview with Elizabeth< no role > this Deponent's Wife
in the absence of this Deponent as this Deponent hath been Informed and
verily believes) This Deponents said (Wife in consequence thereof on the same
day departed and absconded from the House of this Deponent and took with her
this Deponent's said Daughter with a view as this Deponent verily believes to
prevent this Deponent from further prosecuting the said Francis Sequian
als. Anthony or to produce the said Alice to give Evidence in such prosecution
and lastly this Deponent further saith that he hath made diligent Enquiry
for his said Wife as also his said Daughter leat hath not as yet been able to fild
them or either of them and is fearfull he shall not be able so to do during this
Session, but hopes to be able to find his said Daughter on or before next Sessions
And this Deponent the said William Smith< no role > for himself saith that upon discovery
of such Carnal abuse by the said Francis Sequian als. Anthony on the Body
of the said Alice, this Deponent was called upon to Search the said Alice, when
this Deponent was fully of Opinion that such Carnal Abuse had been made in
the Body of the said Alice, And in Consequence there of this Deponent Entered into
Recognizance with the said other Deponent to give Evidence of the Fact aforesaid
at this present Session But this Deponent saith that from the Inform action he this Deponent hath received he verily believes that
Elizabeth the Wife of the said other Deponent hath absconded with the said Child
with a View to Suppre [..] the said prosecution
And this Deponent the said Francis Gaul for himself further
saith that he is of very indigent circumstances
and unable to bear the Expence of respiting the
Recognizance of this himself and the other
Deponent and unless this honorable shall court shall
be pleased to Order such Recognizance to be
Respited without Expence this said Francis Sequian otherwise
anithing will escape Justice
