The Examination of Mr: Martha Jenkins< no role > of London in ye County of Midlesex widow
who upon oath informeth and Saith that about ye 10th of April in ye year above sd
Hanah Mitton< no role > ye wife of Mitton of London aforesd: Baker came to the
House of ye sd: Mis. Martha Jenkins< no role > pretending to desire to speak with Elizabeth
Pond< no role > , and when she Came to ye Said Hanah She asked her if she was willing
to go to Service, but ye young woman Seemd to have and Inclination to go
into ye Countrey to her Mother, then ye Sd: Hanah Mitton< no role > told her yt Sd she
would go Live with her and Look to one Child she Should have £4-10s-8d
p year, but Mis. Jenkins aforesd: sd: sd: Elizabeth Pond was bound by
Recognizance to Prossecute a Papish Priest who had endeavourd to pervert
her to yt Religeon and yt she was not willing she should Leave her [..] ye
Tryall was over to which ye sd: Elizabeth Pond agreed, then Mis: Mitton
desired she might Come to her house in ye day time to make [..] some things
for her, before she went into ye Countrey to her Sisters weding, then ye sd.
Mis. Jenkins asked Mis: Mitton whether she was a Papist, and she answered
no, and began to Curse all Papistsi So She gave her Leave, but on ye 20th (being
Sunday in ye morning) Mis. Mitton came to her house, and offerd to pay ye Said
Mis. Jenkins Some money she ought her, then went home and took Elizabeth
Pond with her, but Mis Jenkins wanting her Scarfe, thought Eliz: Pond had
mistaken hers for her own, so went to ye Sd: Mittons House and told her,
and she gave her her Scarfe againe but never save Either ye Sd: Mis: Mitton
or Elizabeth Pond since yt time, so going home she Missed a diamond
Ring, Nine Guineas and Six shillings in silver, one head Dressda block
Pettycoat, and black had besides sevll: other things and farther saith not
