On the Prosecution of Thomas
Cheesman
< no role > for an Assault.

John Thomas< no role > of Old Brentford in the County of Middlesex an
Officer of Excise maketh Oath and saith that he this Deponent in July last
Entered into a Recognizance in the Sum of Twenty Pounds befor Thomas
Miller
< no role > Esquire one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the said County
for the Appearance of the abovenamed Thomas Fisher< no role > at the their next
September Session at Hicks-Hall to Answer all such Matters and things
as should be objected against him by the said Thomas Cheesman< no role > And
this Deponent further saith that the said Thomas Fisher< no role > being an
officer belonging to the Excise went on the Hop Duty in the County of Sussex
and has been detained on Duty in the Excise in the said County ever since
as this Deponent is informed and verily believes, this Deponent not
having seen the said Thomas Fisher< no role > since he became bound for his
Appearance as aforesaid And this Deponent apprehended that the said
Thomas Fisher< no role > would have Appeared at the said September Session and
taken Care of this Deponents Recognizance as also the Recognizance he
had Entered into for his own Appearance but to this Deponents great
Surprize he finds that the Prosecutor Thomas Cheesman< no role > preferred a
Bill of Indictment against the said Thomas Fisher< no role > in September Session
last for an Assault which was found a True Bill by the Grand Jury to
which BIll the said Thomas Fisher< no role > hath not Appeared whereby the said
Recognizances are become Forfeited And this Deponent further saith
that he fully expected the said Thomas Fisher< no role > would have Appeared at
Hicks-Hall the last October Session and by proper Application to have the
Recognizances respited, this Deponent having wrote Two several Letters to
the said Thomas Fisher< no role > into Sussex for him to Attend for that purpose but
this Deponent understands he never attended or has taken any Step
whatever to discharge the said Recognizances And this Deponent further
saith that he attended at Hicks-Hall on Tuesday the Sixteenth day of October
last but the said Thomas Fisher< no role > not being in London or hearing any thing
from him he this Deponent knew not what step to take to Respite his
