To all to whom these Presents
shall Come We John Manvell< no role > Churchwarden
and James Lake< no role > Henry Crowder< no role > &
George Juby< no role > Overseers
of the Poor of the Parish of St. Mary Le
Bone in the County of Middlesex send Greeting Whereas
William Corby< no role > of the Parish of Bishopgate without Gent
Hath requested and desired of us to Accept and take the sum of
Ten Pounds for the use of the Poor of our said
parish of St. Mary Le Bone in lieu and Head of Security to
Indemnify and save harmless our said Parish of and from
the Charge of keeping or maintaining such Child or Children
with which Mary Lane< no role > Singlewoman is now pregnant which
when born is or are likely to be a Bastard or Bastards & Chargeable to the Parish of St Mary Le Bone
and of which she has Charged him the said William
Corby
< no role > to be the real Father thereof
And we the said John Manvell< no role > James Lake< no role >
Henry Crowder< no role > & George Juby< no role > upon the Charge and
maintenance of our said Parish will put the said Child or
Children when bornNow these
Presents Witness That we the said John Manvell< no role > Jane
Lake
< no role > Henry Crowder< no role > & George Juby< no role > for and in Consideration
of the sum of Ten Pounds
of lawful money of Great Britain to us in hand paid by
the said William Corby< no role > for the use of the
Poor of our said Parish at his the said William Corbye
own Earnest request and desire the receipt whereof we
do hereby Acknowledge and ourselves therewith fully
Satisfied Contented and paid Have Covenanted
Undertaken and Agreed and by these Presents Do
Covenant Undertake and Agree for ourselves and our
Successors to take and put such Child or Children with
which the said Mary Lane< no role > is now Pregnant
upon the Charge and
Maintenance of our said Parish and Provide for the same
in such manner as the said William Corby< no role >
