Gentlemen.
I am desired to Answer your Lre to the Churchwardens Etc
of our Narish in relation to one
George Dean< no role >
& his Wife
who are
settled with you, on the Marriage of whom you greatly Complain
of being artfully done by our Master & Bedle which the Gentleman
are quite Stranger of, But at our Committee last Night the
affair was Canvass'd over, which appear'd quite different than
in the light set forth by your Lre, The Woman wch. you say is
insane lived several Year in Dr. Guise's family on whose Death
she was obliged to come for releif which was greatly wonder'd at
but upon strictly inquiring about her, she is subject to privately drink
whereby she stoopifys her Senses at times, The Man express'd a
liking to her & she readily consented being quite sober & spistead of
the Master bringing them together they both applied to him & desired
him to bring the affair about & the very Morning they were married
the Master endeavoured to persuade the Woman off, therefore we
can by no means take another parish's Poor to provids for, as they
appear legally settled with you If the Gentleman
was any was privy
to any bad methods had been use of they would beyond all doubt be
ready to come to your Gentlemens Complaince I am
St. Duke Middx
26th. Febry 1766.
Gentleman
Your Most humble Sent.
