Depositions relative to the Death of Peter Dove< no role > taken at the Sign of the
London Hospital near the said Hospital seituate in White Chappel Road

Mathew Daniel< no role > at present one of the Pupills toa SurgMr Grindal
one of the Surgeons to the said Hospitall Inmate with Mr Chesledine of Newgate
market Butcher . On his Oath says that Peter Dove< no role > now under View of the Coroner
Inquest was on Sunday the 21st of Augt. instant brought into the said Hospitall
about two of the Clock in the Morning when Deponent saw the said Peter Dow< no role >
was wounded on the leftside of his Body a little above the ring of the Abdominall
Muscles which wound appeared to be made with a Knife of about two Jackson
two & an half long and so deep that the Knife had entred or Perforated the Justices & Deponent returnedthe
Vicera which now pretended, the same Morning about seven of the Clock Deponent Sent for Mr Neale one of the
sd Hospital Surgeons whose Patient the sd Peter Dove< no role > was by Turn who
about One afternoon came to sd Hospital & when Mr Neal came he dilated
the wound in Deponents Presence & examined the Vicera to know how far they were
wounded he said they were wounded in two places tho' no second or other Stab or
wound out wardly appeared & the said Peter Dove< no role > being then a live Mr Neal made
three Stitches tosetlsew the same up and ordered him Applications Such as warm Homente
tions & Poultices & desired that Doctor Andwe' might visit him to give his Advice
for Inward Meditees Dove, convinced Still liveing & complained of Pain in his
Stomack & wounded constantly & could not keep any thing in his Stomack &
Mr. Neatwithwhom this Deponent always attended said in Deponents
Hearing that the sd Dove could not Live, for that he had cold Sweats &aboutin
Tuesday moring the 23 of Same month when Depont saw Dove his hands
& feet were cold & he had little or no Pulse, & on the same Tuesday about ¼ after 2 the sd
Dove expired & sd Mr Neal said that Hedyed of that the before named
wound & this Deponent thinks in the same manner
