The Parish of St. Leonard Shoreditch at a late
Vestry have elected Mr Wm. Garratt< no role > to serve as Constable
for the Liberty of Hoxton in that Parish for the Year 1762.

Mr. Garrott is 68 Years old & very infirm being
troubled wth. an Asthma & has besides a very bad Rupture
in so much that he hardly ever stirs abroad & is most
Particularly at this Time (when it's expected yt. in
the Course of his Duty he must execute Press Warrants
a most improper presents serve this Office & is besides a
Schoolmaster .

The parish finding yt. he is resolved not
to submit to the usual Imposition of a paying a Time
to be excused from serving the Office seem willing to
consent to the Election being avoid one [..] And therefore
please to move this Morning yt. he may be discharged
& some of the Officers of the parish who will be there have
promised to consent to it.

If the Bench chuwit Mr. Garriatt will swear
to the Truth of these Facts But if the parish shod.
break their Faith with us & refuse to consent to own
discharge please to get the Matter put off to day & we will
be prepared with proper proof of these Facts by tomorrow
