At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of Our
Lord the King holden at the Town Court House near
Westminster Hall in and for the liberty of the Dean and
Chapter of the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter Westmr.
the City Borough and Town of Westmr. in the County of
Middlesex and Saint Martin le Grand London by Adjournmt.
on Thursday the Eighth Day January in the First year
of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Third
King of Great Britain Etc before Bartholomew Hammond< no role >
Francis Bedwell< no role > Saunders Welch< no role > Paul Mountray< no role > Esquires
and other their Fellow Justices of Our said Lord the King
assigned to keep the Peace in the said liberty And also to hear
and Determine divers Felonies Trespasses and other
Misdeeds Committed in the said Liberty

Whereas by the Statute of the Twelfth Year of the Reign
of his present Majesty Intituled an Act for the more
Easy assessing Collecting and Levying of County Rates
It is Enacted that the Justices of the Peace for the said
City and Liberty of Westmr. shall have the full power to
appoint the Governor or Master of the House of Correction
within the said City and liberty who shall have the sum
of Money Yearly as had been Accustomed for and towards the
support and Maintenance of the Prisoners in his Custody Etc
not [..] ceeding Fifty Pounds by the Year and direct the Treasurer
or Treasurers of the County of Middex to Obey all Orders wch
shall be made by the Justices of the said City and liberty or
the Greatest part of them Assembled in their General Quarter
Session for the Payment of any Sum of Money for the
Allowance Allotted to such Governor or Master of the said house
of Correction and these being now due to John Stephens< no role >
Governor or Master of the said House of Correction the Sum
of Twenty five pounds for half a years Salary due at Christmas
last past It is Ordered and directed by this Court that Mr.
John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of the County of Middlesex do pay to
the said John Stephens< no role > the sum of Twenty five Pounds for
half a year Salary due at Christmas last past
as Governor or Master of the said House of Correction and
