Mathews had used him like a Theif & adulterer when Mr Mathews desired him to be
Seated & not expose himself in publick Company this Deponent heard both the Pistolls
believes they were fired by Steirn for Deponent heard Steirn say he wished he
had killed himself as well as hims meaning Mathews there was no other
person killed in the Company. Depont. after the Report of the second Pistoll saw
Mr. Mathews expiring

Samuel Chapman< no role > of Hatton Garden Surgeon on his Oath says That on
this Day he hath viewed the Body of the above named Richard Mathews< no role > Lying dead
at the House of John Pugh< no role > the said Pewter Platter That upon examineing the sd
Body there appeared a wound in the upper part of the Sternum or Breast bone
a little towards the left side & that the wound penetrated the Cavity of the Breast.
The Ball, as this Depont. believes, passed thro the upper part of the Lungs &
was the Occasion of the Death of the said Richard Mathews< no role > This name instance is in set 190. . 16 Augt. 1760
