Worships That notwithstanding Places kept for Cock Fighting have by the decision
of the Court of Kings Bench bun deemed Gaming Houses within the true intent
and Meaning of that most Excellent statute of the 33d. of Henry the 8th: for Preventing
Seaming and their Keepers fined accordingly Yet divers evil minded Persons have and frequent
do Parish in the Publick Papers Advertisements for Cock fighting which generaly are held at
Publick Houses tho: contrary to their Licencers inviting and reducing the unwary to assemble
at such Meetings where they frequently fall a prey to and are notoriously Cheated of their
Property by a set of In famous Sharpers the Constant attendants at such unlawfull
Meetings to the Rain of themselves and familys And whereas Gaming and the expence
attending such unlawfull Meetings take off the mind from and destroy Industry as well
as impoverish [..] the lower Class of People We Cannot view such Enormities in any other
light then that of Publick Nuisance Manifestly tending to View and Debauchery and to the
increasing these Pests to Society Theives and Robbers We the Sd: Jury in Consequence of our
Oaths and duty to the Publick do therefore Present all and every of the Centrivers and Promoters
of such legal Horse Raus and Keepers of Cock Pitts an encouragers of debauchery and
Idleness and disturbers of the Publick Peace humbly requesting your Worships to call upon
the Proper Officers to put the Laws into Street Execution so as to Prevent such illegal
Practies for the future
