for the said County the Twenty fifth
day of March 1755
This Examinant upon his Oath saith he was hired on
Sunday morning last by William Barlow< no role >
to goe with him
to Enfield Chase
to help him drive some Bullocks from
the said Chase to Saint Albans
fair and that he this Examt
went from London with the said Barlow to Enfield Chase
takeing a Sadle & bridle with them which Barlow brought to
this Examinant, & Catcht a Black mare on the said Chase
which they took, and three Heifers, which mare & Heifers
the said Barlow told this Examt were his property & that
the wanted to sell them to pay his master some money which
he owed himand this Examt further saith it was
about three o Clock on sunday in the afternoon when they
enterd the Chase and about seven o Clock the same Evening
when they brought the said Mare & Heifers of the said Chase
& that he was a Stranger, to the roads & did not know but
they were driveing them to St Albans Fair
untill they
were stop on Suspicion of haveing stolen them
