The Free and Voluntary Information Examination and Confession of
Andrew Lowrey< no role > Apprentice to Mr. John Bland< no role > of Seen borough in York
Marriner Merchant and owner of the middx mentioned Ship Etc taken before me
one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex
this Seventh day of January 1755 .

This Informant Andrew Lowrey maketh Oath and saith Thaton Sunday
Night last about seven or eight o Clock
John Patterson< no role > a Sailor belonging to
the Ship the Edward (which this Informant belongs to) Francis Been< no role >
Master , then lying off Ratcliff Cross in the Parish of Stepney in the County of
Middlesex having as he said some Busines oshore, left the Ship about five
or Six of the Clock in thesameEvening of Sunday lasts the 5th Instant and on his return, (being brought in
the Shift or Poal of one who call himself by the name of William Crook< no role > a
Bomboat man) about Seven or eight of the Clock the same Evening,
in the said John Patterson< no role > with the Carpenters Axe which lay in the Steeridge
(as they had consulted before, the said John Patterson< no role > being at the House
of the said William Crook< no role > in Store house Yard in the said Hamlet of
Ratcliff chief of the time of his Abstenency)andhas had on board
the next Ship where the Cable belonging to the said Ship the Edward happened Wlay Qualed, and nott
off about Two Hathom or there abouts of it and imediately
gave it to the said Wm. Crook< no role > who was then come on board & being
lighted by this Informant the said Crook conveyed it on board his
Boat or Skitt promising to bring a Bottle of Guin as being he said
the whole worth of it to the said John Patterson< no role > and this Informant
and rowed away with it, And this Informant further upon his
Oath saith the said William Crook< no role > , tho' not actually seperated it
yet receive'd it well knowing the same to be Feloniously stolen
and is as this Deponent beleives a comon receiver of the like and
other things up and down the River And this Informant further
saith that about Six o Clock this Morning he look his bedding' Hamork
Etc. which he lay upon on board the said Ship and carried it to
the House of the said Crook as aforesaid Rere with himself to continue
till the Ship was gone down the River, not designing to go in her any
more
