Wednesday 13th: July 1748


Depositions touching the Death Easter Wyatt< no role > at the parish of
Tottenham in the County of Middx taken before Jno. King< no role > Esqr
One of the Coroners for the sd. County

John Clifford< no role > the lowe End of Kingsland Road (lodged with one
Mr. Dixon) Weaver Maketh Oath & Saith that about
Nine Weeks age the Deced Easter Wyatt< no role > & her Husband John
Wyatt
< no role > lodged in the first floor in the house where this Depent. then
lodged and about Nine a Clock at Night heard the
Deced cry out Murder upon which he this Depont
went down Stairs & then found her in the passage
near their own door lyeing all along Says that the
Husband was then standing by her but did not see any
Weapon in his hand neither did he see any blow given
This Depont. says further that he then asked the Doced
what was the matter to which she replyed that her
husband had beat with a Broomstick & at the same
time should her wrist upon which there was a very great
swelling but which Arm it was this Depont. knows not
This Depont then had the Deced up Stairs into her own
Room and then went down to the Husband Jno. Wyatt< no role >
and asked him how he could serve his Wife so, who
made answer that it was her Saucy Tonque Adding at
the same time that if she would not be quiet he would
give her more says that the next day he saw the Deced
who repeated what she told this Depont the night before
& at the same time should her Arm, says father
that he never heard any quarrel afterwards
& that they went both to led together
the same night
