The Examination of William Sugg< no role > taken upon oath
the 30th. day of September 1746 before Thos Blencowe< no role >
Esqr one of His Maties Justices of the peace for the
said County

This Examinant of saith that he is Mr.
Wm. Popes< no role > Shepherd & keeps his flock of sheep in Cowley Feild that
the number of the flock was thirteen score & four Ewes that they
were Martit with a P. on ye near hip & colourd with wash
ridle that he counted them on Sunday last was seveing at [..]
& there was then the whole number that the tuesday after
he was sent to Weyhill & has been absent till yesterday
that this morning he counted the Seep agt. and there is one
lost that the shum of a Sheep now produced be veryly
belives is the skin of the Sheep that was lost and the mark
upon it is Mr. Popes mark

This Examinant Saith that on Sunday morning
last Sarah Peels Daughter Mary Crouch< no role > & Elizabeth Hall< no role >
came to this Examinant & told him they had found the Skin
of a Sheep will the Gutts wrapt up in it wth two black brick
butts in a poud in Uxbridge comon & Ward they thought it
was his Sairn that he look over ye skinn & found Wm Popes
mark upon it & believes it is ye Skinn now produced he [..]
fetched the Constable & went & serch'd the house of Thomas
Bonsey
< no role > he being in Suspected person but found nothing there
at towards he went to the house of Philip Powell< no role > Son in
