this 28th. day of

1746 before me one of his Majesties Justices
of the Peace
for the said County
Says upon Oath that he was Acquainted with James
Stamford< no role >
Richard Swift< no role >
and Samuel Meecum, but
more Particularly with the said Swift by Reason of such
intimate Acquaintance the said Swift Prevailed on this
Deponent to got into Leaden Hall Street
in the City of London
on the Night of the Wednesday after Shrove Tuesday last
where they met Stamford and Meacum who had before
the Meeting them Stolen two Perukes one with two Tails
and the other a Grifell which Wiggs Stamford delivered
to this Deponent soon after they met a Coach near Leaden
hall with a Box under the Coach Box Which Coach they were resolved
to Follow and Accordingly did when the Coach Stoped
Over against a Silver Smiths Door in Fleet Street
Where upon Swift Gof'd the way and Took the Box
and afterwards walked towards the Fleet
Market & turned
up a Court and Stood under a Lamp in an Alley to
see what was in the Box and it Appeared that there were
nothing in it but Writings and Bonds so not thinking
it worth while to take it with them agreed to sett it down,
under a Lamp in the Alley, and they afterwards went into
the Strand
& met with nothing, they Turned back again
to the Fleet
Market and there went to an Inn the Sign of
the Rose
in the said Markett & there found two or three
Bundells lye Close to the Gate they waited about half
an Hour and Stamford and this Deponent watched that
nobody should See Mecum and Swift take one of the
Bundells that presently Swift Took it and he Gred it upon
Mecums Shoulders and afterwards they Carried it by
turns and when they Came near where Mecum lived
Mecum went before and open'd the Door and Carried it
through the Entry into the Cellar and then Cutt it open
to See what was in it when it was found to be Raw Yarn,
& there gave the two Wiggs to Saml. Mecum< no role >
, Stamford
and Swift went home and Mecum, Stamford
and Swift went home and Mecum and this Deponent
went to the House of one Benjamin Lane< no role >

the Yarn was Sold to one Matthew Martin< no role >
