Whereas Ann Street< no role > Singlewoman was on Sunday the third of
this Instant March delivered of a Female bastard Child (since Christired
Elizabeth< no role > ) at a Cooks shop in little Suffolk Street in the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields within the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex
yet Living and become Chargeable unto the said Parish and hath in an
Examination taken in writing upon her Voluntary Oath before Daniel
Gach
< no role > Esqr . one of his Majestyes Justices of the peace for the City and
Liberty of Westminster aforesaid Charged one William Kirkland< no role > a
Servant to one Esqr. Nightly in New Margaret Street by Cavendish square
to be the true and only father thereof and no Man Else
And Whereas we whose Names are hereunto Subscribed two of [..]
the Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of St. Martin in the Fields have
demanded Security to save harmless and keep Indemnified our said
Parish off and from the Cost and Charge of the Maintenance and
Provision of the said Female Bastard Child And Whereas
William Kirkland< no role > of the parish of St. Marylebone Yeoman
having taken the Premises into
Consideration (not being able to find Security to indemnifie our said
Parish) hath requested and desired of us to agree with him touching
the Premises and to accept and take the sum of ten pounds & ten Shillings
of Lawfull Money of Great Brittain for the use of the poor of our
said Parish in Lieu and Stead of Security Now these Present
Witness that we the said Overseers of the poor do hereby acknowledge
to have had and Reced of the said William Kirkland< no role > the said sum
of ten pounds and ten Shillings for the use of the poor of our said Parish
and in Consideration thereof we do hereby for ourselves our Successors
the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of our said parish for the
time being (as far as in us lyeth) Under take Covenant and promise
to and with the said William Kirkland< no role > his Executors and Administr [..]
by these presents that we and our Successors shall and will from time
to time and at all times hereafter [..] well and Sufficiently saved of
keep harmless and Indemnified the said William Kirkland< no role > his Exe [..]
and Administrators of and from the Cost and Charge of the Maintenance
and Provision of the said Female Bastard Children Witness whereof
we have hereunto set our hands and Seals this 28th.Day of March [..]
