John Wilkins< no role > of Hyde Park Corner in ye Parish of St. George Hanover
Square in ye County of Middx Paviour Maketh Oath yt he well knows ye street
in ye Parish of St. Martin in ye Feilds & St. James in ye libty of Westmr . called
ye Hay Markett And Says yt William Wilkins< no role > this Depts. late [..] le deced was
as he beleives appointed by ye Justices of Peace of the sd. County & libty ye Paviour
of Such Part of ye sd. Street as was limitted as & for ye Markett thereof by an
Act of Parliamt. of ye 8th & 9th. Years of ye Reigne of ye late King William ye
third by contract at [..] P Annum for yt he this Dept. Sometime in ye Year 1702
became Apprentice to his sd. [..] & lived wth. him & his Widow for to Years or
thereabouts & served him & her as their Prentice& Journeyman during yt time
And yt during ye sd. 10 Years he genally 3. or 4 times every Week workt in ye
sd. Hay Markett in Paving & repairing ye Pavemt. thereof Says he this day Saw
ye Stones Set up at ye upper end of ye sd. Hay Markett & wth. he beleives were set up as
ye boundaries there of for ye reasons foll for yt he rembers abt. 28 Years agee there
were figures upon them through now as he beleives worn Smooth for ye his sd. Hucke &
his Widow during ye 10 years yt this Dept. lived wth. them always Paved ye sd. Street
upto yr sd. Stones as being ye bounds thereof for yt as he has heard his sd. [..] often [..] say yt
ye sd. Stones were Set up by yr sd. Justices or their Ordrs. as ye bounds of ye sd. Markett yt
he always understood ye sd. Stones to be ye bounds thereof And for yt he this Dept. having
been appointed by ye late Lord William Pawlett< no role > Paviour of ye sd. Markett did for
Six Years Suttel [..] [..] pave ye same & yt he always during ye sd. [..] Six Years repaired
& Paved ye sd. Street up to ye sd. Stones as being yt bounds thereof And Says yt ye sd. Stones
now remaine & being ye Same place as they were in yr Year 1702 & have not since as
he knows or ever heard of been removed or dugged up.
