WHEREAS it appeareth unto us, two of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace for the said County of Midd (Quor' Unus) by the Com-
plaint of the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
ParishofSaint Leonard Shoreditch in the said County, that
Robert Scofeld< no role > an Infant near Eight yeare of Age
lately come, and intruded into the saidParishofSaint Leonard
Shoreditch endeavouring to gain a Settlement there, contrary to Law,
andis now likely tobecome a great Charge to the saidParish of St Leonard
Shoreditch which we adjudge to be true; and, whereas, upon the Examination of
Elizabeth Whittaker< no role > taken upon Oath, it appears to us, that the
saidRobert Scofeld< no role > was last legally settled in thesaid
ParishofSaint Leonard Shoreditch
in thesaid County of Middx and
thatliehath not since obtained any legal Settlement elsewhere
Therefore, we the said Justices, upon the Proof aforesaid, and other Circum
stances, do [..] deem the Place of the last legall Settlement [..]
