Whereas Francis Geary< no role > Father of John Geary< no role > lately deced late Keeper of new prison in
this County exhibited his humble peticon unto the Court of Generall Quarter Sessions of
the peace holden for this County by Adjournmt on Thursday the eighth day of April
last Setting forth that the Said John Geary< no role > did by the Order of this Court expend
A considerable Sume of Money in building A new wall & gate in the Said prison for
the Safe custody of the prisoners comitted there and alsoe in improveing the gardens thereinto
belonging as alsoe in repaireing Severall places in the Said prison And that the
Money Soe expended as aforesaid by the Said John Geary< no role > for the uses aforesaid
was advanced by the Petr. and was to have been repaid to him by the Said
John Geary< no role > out of the pfitt of the Said prison, And that the Said John Geary< no role >
being incapeable of paying the petr. any part of the Said Money Soe
advanced by the Petrs. as aforesaid It was therefore prayed by the Petrs.
that the Court would be pleased to Order that Such person who should
be Ordered to Succeed the Said John Geary< no role > in the Said Office of Keeper
of the Said prison might pay unto the Petrs, what should appeare to be due
to the Petr for what had been by him expended as aforesaid on Such
necessary Improvemt. or otherwise reimburse the Same as to the Court should
Seem meet Whereupon It was by Order made by the Said Court of Generall Quarter
Sessions recomended and referred unto John Fuller< no role > William Cotesworth< no role > Thomas Pindar< no role >
William Kingsford< no role > Simon Michell< no role > John Ellis< no role > Charles Floyer< no role > Gwyn Vaughan< no role > Jacob
Delamot
< no role > Blagny Thomas< no role > Thayer< no role > & Henry Lowth< no role > Esqr . Justices of the peace for this
County or any three of them to examin into the truth of the matters aforesaid,
and to convene before them such person [..] or Persons as they should think
proper for that purpose, And to report their Opinions in writeing touching
the Prmes unto his Maties Justices of the peace for this County to be assembled
in Sessions, And whereas the Said John Fuller< no role > Simon Michell< no role > & Thomas Pindar< no role > Esqrs
have certifyed unto the Court at this prsent Sessions that they have pceeded to
consider of the matters aforesaid and doe find that by an Order of Sessions made
the twenty Ninth day of August One thousand Seven hundred & twenty three
It was referred to Severall Justices therein named to give direccons for the
Speedy and effectuall repaire of New prison and to Superintend Such
repaire and report the expence thereof, and that Such expence should
be paid by the Said John Geary< no role > and be allowed to him out of the yearly
Sume of twenty pounds P Anm payable by him as Keeper of the Said
