The Examination of John Hewitt< no role > .

This Examt. being Shavll certain
Papers which were taken by Two of the
Kings Messengers in his Lodgings, doth
acknowledge them to be the Same paper
which were So taken. and likewise being
Shewn other papers, which were inclose
in a packett, which said packet he owns
to have Sent by his brother to Harris in
Newgate, he doth confess, that he hath
been concern'd with the said Harris for a
for fright last past, in carrying papers for
him to the Duke of Manchester, to Sr . Thomas
Hewitt
< no role > and also to Matthew Hewitt< no role > Esqr ; this
Examint. confesseth, that he carried a Letter
for Harris directed to Matthew Hewitt< no role > Esqr . which
Letter he Said came from My Ld. Carteret
Alledging, that the said Harris order'd him
to Say so. This Examt. likewise confesseth,
that he carried a Paper of Proposals to
the said Matthew Hewitt< no role > Esqrs . house
which proposals he said were Sent by the
Lord Carteret to the said Matthew Hewitt< no role >
Esqr . in order for him the said Matthew
Hewitt
< no role > Esqr . to subscribe to the said
Proposals. This Examt. confesseth, that
he demanded four pounds four Shillings
for Mr. Hewitts Subscription to the sd. proposals,
