Upon reading the Reporte ofReport being made unto this Court by John Ellis< no role > Daniel Combes< no role >
Gwinn Vanghan< no role > Alexander Wards< no role > & Matthew Hewitt< no role > Esqrs.
Justices of the peace for this County (to whom, amongst
others, It was referred by Order of Court to take a view
of New Prison at Clerkenwell in this County & the
dwelling house thereto belonging, and to see if any
& what repaires are necessary to be done there unto
and to make an estimate of what it will cost of repaire
the same) That the said prison is in every part of it
much out of repaire, And that the roof is some part
of it [..] intirely untiled, and that through the
whole building it must be new ripped, it haveing
been soe long since it was done that the lathes are
all rotten, and to goe about to patch it up againe will
be throwing money away, And that the great brick
arch goeing into the yard is in Soe dangerous a
condicon that it is their opinion that the Keepers &
Prisoners are in danger of their lives, it being fallen
from the main wall severall inches, and that there
is an absolute necessity for takeing downe the Sd. Arch
& rebuilding the same, and that the inner gates
