Edward Jackson< no role > of the parish of Pancrass in the County
of Middlesex Victualer maketh Oath that he this' Deponent
did one day this Winter where he was att work att panerall
Wash observe the Surveyes Carts Stand Still from about
Eight of the Clock in the morning till about noone att
which time the Carters that belongs to the Said Carts were
drinking att the George ale house neare Pancrass Wash and
did little or noe work all that day for that they appeard
to be all drunk which this Deponent well observed haveing
Worked att the Said Wash all that day, And this Dept
further Sayeth that there were Eleaven Carts att Work neare
the Con and hare one day this winter to bring dirt [..]
a little way down the hill and this Dept did then observe
and take notice that they were soe Crowded that they could
notwakworke half their number att a time and that this Dept
would Engage and Undertake to be one of Ten or Eleaven
men that would whoele as much dirt in one day as all [..]
Eleaven Carts did Carry whereby the Publick would Save [..]
great Expences
