The humble Peticon [..] of
Alexander Killgore< no role > Bray Lane< no role >
William Collier< no role > Thomas Bastin< no role >
Thomas Gibson< no role > and To [..] Birch on
behalf of themselves and the rest of the
Inhabitants of that Liberty of St John of
Jerusalem in the Parish of St James
Clerkenwell in the said Countys

Sheweth


That in Easter Weeke last your Petitioners with severall other
antient Inhabitants of the said Liberty according to the Custome
thereof Did Elect Nominate and choose Mr Stephen Sedgwick< no role > an Inhabitant
therein to Serve the Office of Headborough for the said Liberty for the
year Ensuing And on last Ascention Day Presented the said Stephen
Sedgwick to the Lords of the Manner of St John of Jerusalem aforesaid.
to be sworne in order to Execute the aforesaid Office But open such
Presentment the Stewards of the aforesaid Lords of the Mannor
Ctho' without shewing any Manner of cause to your Petit: and
the rest of the Inhabitants) Refused to swear the said Sedgwick
but Discharged him from serving the same Whereby Your Petitrs:
humbly conceive themselves much aggrieved And for as much as.
there being noe other person chosen to Execute the said Office
which will tend much to the Detriment and prejudice of the
said Inhabitants

Your Peticoners therefore humbly pray yor
Worshipps will be pleased to order the said
Stephen Sedgwick< no role > to attend this Court some day
this Sessions to shew a just cause why he
should not Execute the aforesaid [..]
Legally chosen And that yor Petitioners may
be: relieved As to this Court shall seeme Meete

And Yor. Petrs: shall Ever pray Etc
