Anne Knight< no role > of the pish of St Giles without Cripple
-gate in this County spinster maketh (oath) that she this
Deponent was a whole year a prisoner in the house of
Correccion att Clerkenwell in this County & was
discharged from thence on or about the 22th day of
November last & that dureing this Depont impris-
ment one Jane Best< no role > a prisoner in the said
prison was delivered of a dead child on the bare
boards in one of the wards of the said prison this
Depont seeing Mrs Gregory Housekeeper of the said prison
about two days before cruelly beat and strike the said
Jane Best< no role > on the back and sides with a Kane or
Bulls pissell & that the prisoners in the said prison
were not during this D [..] imprisonment allowed
sufficient and necessary dyeth nor fire nor candle
or straw to lye on, where [..] seventeen prisoners dyed
for want (as this Dept beleives) And further saith
that the said Mrs Gregory caused a poore sick
woman to be turned out of one of the wards in
the said prison into the yard there where she dyed
immediately, the said Mrs Gregory calling the sd poor
woman bitch and saying that the should not dye
in the ward & this Depont hath been often times beat
by the said Mrs Gregory for asking releife
