Upon reading the humble peticon of Daniel Edge< no role >
on
the behalfe of Benjamin Edge< no role >
his son exhibited unto
this Court setting forth about three yeares & an half
past the sd. Benjamin Edge became an Apprentice to
Thomas Jackson< no role >
of Goodmans Fields
in this County
Tallyman for the terme of nine yeares, And that the sd.
Thomas Jackson< no role >
hath frequently abused the sd. Benjamin
Edge by causeing him to be imprest for her Maties. service
from his sd. Masters house, and by refuseing to employ
& direct him in his busyness, by meanes of all which the sd.
Benjamin Edge is very apprehensive his sd. Master
will convey or cause him to be conveyed away into some
place of danger, A complaint of all which the petr. hath
made to Roger Smith< no role >
Esqr. one of her Maties. Justices of the
peace for this County who granted his sumons for the sd.
Jackson to appeare before him, who did appeare accordingly
and craved leave for a few days to consider & make
an end of the matter in difference with the petr; but
hath not come to him upon such accompt, It was prayed
by the petr. that the sd. Benjamin Edge his son may be
discharged from his apprenticehood to the said Thomas
Jackson< no role >
Now upon hearing of what was insisted on by
Mr. Darnall of Councell for the petr. & the sd. Benjamin
Edge his son & alsoe by Mr. Corbett of Councell for the sd.
Thomas Jackson< no role >
who was present in Court Forasmuch as it appeareth to this Court that the
sd. Thomas Jackson< no role >
had endeavoured to cause the sd. Benjamin
Edge to be impressed in order to be sent as a Soldier into her
Maties. Service, by meanes whereof the sd. Benjamin Edge (in case
he had been soe sent as a Soldier) would have lost the opportunity of
being taught & instructed in the trade & busyness exercised by his sd. Master
