Annoqr Dom 1709.

These Informts: Saith Severally upon their Oaths that between the
Houses of Eleven and Twelve of the Clock in the Last night being the
Second of this Instant October Hearing of an Outczie of Theives
in Tottenham aforesd and coming Downe into the Street [..]
Dwelling house of Margery Walkers< no role > broken Open; whereupon the
Informts: makeing a Strick Search after the prsons which Committed the
Felony Found one John Bettison< no role > Larking in a Cart. House in Mr John
Whitehurst
< no role > back yard within the parish aforesd, and near into the place
where the Sd Felony was Committed And these Informts: makeing a further
Search Found one Thomas Foster< no role > his and covered with Haye between
Two Haye Reaks in the aforesd back yard and nigh unto the Peace where
the Sd John Bettison< no role > was Found And these Informts: further Saith
upon their Saverall Oaths that Imediatly after the Sd John Bettison< no role >
were taken into Custody Confessed before them, that he did be
Open the dwelling House of the Sd Margery Walkers in Tottinham
aforesd by comeing in at a Window about Eleven a Clock in the night on the
Sd Second day of this Instant Etc and there Did Feloniously Steale &
take away from thence Eleven Pewter plates and Two Women Shifts and
souls she se Informts, that the Eleven Pewter plates which he had Stolen
from the sd Margery Walker, were His in the next neighbours Orchard.
where these Informts: found them, And these Informts; further Deposeth
Upon their Oaths that she Sd John Bettison also Confessed that he [..] was
a Soldier [..] for some time in the first Regimt: of Foot Gards Comanded by
Col Wheeler but has Deserted from thence for Severall Months, &
further Saith not
