We the Grand Jury at ye General Sessions of the
Peace for ye County of Middlesex
held at Hick's Hall
in St John Street
in this County of Middlesex
on
Munday ye Sixth of December instant taking notice
of a Presentment ny ye Grand Jury ye last Term at
Westminster
against May Fair; And being too Sen=
=sible that ye Allegations thereof are true, cannot
but highly approve of ye Same; And being a Grand
Jury of ye Same County, do think it our duty to follow
their laudable example, as being also encouraged by
that of ye Worthy Magistrates of ye City of London
in their effectual Proceedings against Bartholimew
Fair: We do therefore Present ye Said Fair in this
County call'd May Fair to be a Publick Nusance very
dangerous to her Majestie's Royal Person & an Occasion
of many Breaches of her Peace, & ye great Corruption
& debauchery of divers her Subjects particularly the
younger People in their Virtue & Morals by Gaming
& other disorderly & lewd Practices; Wherefore We
think it of geat Importance to ye Publick, that ye
Said Aggreivance be red rest.
