Upon informacon given to this Court that the watches within the sewall pishes
hambletts Libties & prcincts in this County in & near the Suburbo of the City of
London are sett to late in the night time & that the petty Constables & Headburroughs of
the said Parishes Hambleth prcints & Libties discharge their watches to early in the
morneing & that sewall Carpenters Bricklayers & other workmen useing ladders
in the day time doe leane them carelessly in the streets & other places by means
whereof divers burglarys felonys & other mischeises have been comitted by ill
disposed psons in and near the Suburbs of the said City of London Now for
the better preservacon of his Maties peace within this County & for prventing
any dangers that may happen for the future by not keeping Sufficient
watches & by Carpenters Bricklayers & other workmen leaneing their
ladders not Locked up nor Seavred from being used by evill disposed
persons for evill purposes Itt is thought fitt & ordered by this Court that
the Petty Constables & Headboroughs of any pish Hamblett prcinct & libty
in this County in and near the Suburbe of the said City of London doe
forthwith upon notice of this order sett & place in their respective pishes
Hambletts & libties & prcincts Strong & Sufficient watches & that the Same be
from [..] henceforth untill Lady day next duly & constantly sett &
continued from Sunm Sitting to Sun riseing & that all workmen & she
useing ladders doe take effectuall care to Secure & lock them up every
might in order to prvent the mischeifes aforesaid And itt is further
ordered by this Court that the high Constables of the respective
divisions in this County doe take speedy & effectuall care of the due
execucon of this order & upon sight hereof to apply themselves unto the
Justices of the peace of this County in their respective divisions & to
consider in what places the said watches & Hands may from time to
time most convencently be kept & places And that they cause due
prsentmts to be made of all Psons neylertiny their duty herein And itt is
hereby recomended to the care of his Maties Justices of the peace att
their petty Sessions within their sewall divisions in this County to see this
order duly observes for the welfare & Safety of his Maties Subjects
resideing in this County And this Court doth require all high & petty
Constables & all other psons concernee in the execucon of this order to
Yeild due obedience thereunto as they & any of them will answer the
contrary att their pill
