The CASE of Mr. JOHN NODEN< no role > ,
Nephew to Mr. Thomas Jones< no role > , late Keeper of New-Prison ,
in the County of Middlesex ,

humbly Offered to the Consideration of the Worshipful the Justices of the Peace for the
County of MIDDLESEX ,

THOMAS JONES< no role > was about the Year 1670, Constituted, by Order of the Quarter-Sessions
held for the County of Middlesex , Keeper of New-Prison , and was to pay Fifty Pounds per Annum to
Bridwel , and lay out One Hundred Pounds per Annum, for Three Years, to Repair New-Prison .

Sometime after, the Habitation for the Keeper of New-Prison being inconvenient and Streight, there was, by
Order of Sessions, in a large piece of Ground belonging to the County a piece of Ground measured and set out,
for the said Thomas Jones< no role > to build a House upon. Which he did, laid out in finishing the same above Three
Hundred and Twenty Pounds, as by a Report make by several Justices appointed to examine the same appear.

This said House being built on the piece of Ground aforesaid, by Order of Sessions. the Trustees for the said
County, demised the said House, Ways, Waters, Water-courses, Easements, Profits, Commodities, Advanta-
ges, and Appurtenances whatsoever, to the said Thomas Jones< no role > , for the Term of Sixty Years: In which Lease is a
Covenanter [..] Mr. Jones, That every succeeding Keeper of New-Prison , should have the House, during his Time,
at Twenty four Pounds per Annum.

Thomas [..] believing he had a Lease of the House and Ground about it, the House of Easement being at the
farther [..] the said Ground in one comer, and Door which was used to go out at toward, the Fields at ano-
ther c [..] and that the same would [..] twenty four Pounds per Annum after his Death; by his Last
Will [..] mene devised the said [..] nises to John Noden< no role > his Newphew, as a apportion of his [..] state
[..] and died about [..]

[..] House and Gre [..] ands on was [..]
[..] nless the Ground but the House is dem [..]
House [..] Order, the present Keeper of New-Prison hath taken Possession of the [..] , and there is no
way [..] to the said House. By which means Mr. Noden, the Legatee, cannot make Ten Pounds per
[..] Rent for the said House: And by his said Unkle, Mr. Jones's Mistake, both of what was lett to him,
and the Value, hath lost above half the Value he intended him by his said Will.

Mr. Noden therefore humbly Proposeth,

THAT he may, in order to have some Recompence for his Loss in the said House, be Appointed
Keeper of BRIDEWELL , the Place now being vacant, under the Terms following.

I. That he may have such Sallery for executing the said Place, as your Worships shall
think convenient.

II. That he may have he Place subject to your Worships Pleasure.

III. That he will yearly Account as your Worships shall direct for the Profits of the said
Place; and what shall be over and above what Your Worships shall allow him for a Sallery, to
be disposed of as your Worships shall direct and appoint.

IV. That he give good Security for the Performance of the abovemention'd Proposals.

Mr. Noden humbly hopes, That his Unkle being Keeper of the said Prison before, and laid out great Summs of
Money in Repairing and Building as aforesaid, and be being so greatly Prejudiced by the Loss in the
said House built by his Unkle , as aforesaid, that Your Worships will be pleased to consider his hard Case,
and to him that Justices that lies now in Your Power, no other Person having any such Pretension to have
the said Place, as Mr. Noden hath.
