Wee whose Names are Subscribed and Seals here to affixed two of their Maties: Justices of
the Peace for the County of Midd (one where of being of the Quorum) and Inhabiting in or
next the limitts of the Parish Church of the Parish of St Giles in the Feilds in the said
County haveing mett together and heard the Complaint of the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of St Giles in the Feilds concerning a Male
Bastard Child born in the said parish on the Body of Unica Franklin< no role > This name instance is in set 2356. Singlewoman
in the month of January in the yeare of our Lord one thousand Six hundred
ninty one named Thomas< no role > And hath ever Since the Birth thereof bin chargable
to the said Parish and soe likely to continue Doe find upon the Examination of
the said Unica Franklin< no role > taken upon Oath and other circumstances appearing unto us
That Thomas Bates< no role > here to fore of the parish of St James Westminster but now
of the parish of St. Giles in the Feilds in the said County Hackney Coachman did
begett on the Body of the said Unica Franklin< no role > the said Male Bastard Child And
doe therefore adjudge him the said Thomas Bates< no role > to be the reputed Father
thereof And doe Order and appoint him the said Thomas Bates< no role > upon notice of
this our Order to pay unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said parish of St Giles in the Feilds the Sume of Forty Shillings towards the Charge
of the first four Weeks after the Birth of the said Male Bastard Child being the
time of her lying Inn And alsoe to pay weekly & every weeke unto the said
Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poore the further Sume of two Shillings P weeke
for and towards the releif and maintainance of the said Male Bastard Child for Soe
lorry time as the said Child hath been & shall bee chargable to the said Parish And
of and from the Charge thereof at all times hereafter shall Save harmless and
indemprifie the said Parish of St Giles in the Feilds And forthwith give Sufficient
Securitie to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poore of the said Parish
of St Giles in the Feilds for the performance of this one Order or appeare at
the next Generall Sessions of the Peace to be holden for the said County of
Middlesex then and there to abide Such Order as the Justices of the Peace or the
more parte of them shall take in the behalfe Given under our hands & Seals
