Order for the Inhitr
of RedLion Square to
Maintain a Watch}


Upon Report made unto this Court by Sr. Charles Lee< no role > Kt . Ralph Bucknalls< no role >
Esqr . Theophilus Eyton< no role > Esqr and other Justices of the Peace for this County
who were desired by Order of this Court att their Petty Sessions held att the
Court house in Bloomsbury for Holborn Division in the said County to sumon
before them the Inhabitants of Red Lion Square in the Parish of St. Andrew
Holborn in this County and alsoe the Scavengers and Rakers appointed to
Cleanse the Street there and the Constables of the said Division and consider
what means this said Streets might be Cleansed and a Sufficient Watch and
Ward kept for Security of the said Inhabitants and their respective houses
and goods This Court doth think fitt and accordingly Order that the Scavengers
and Rakers Already Appointed to Cleanse the said Streets doe take care to
Cleanse the same untill Michmas next And that the said Inhabitants
of Red Lion Square doe pay the said Scavengers and Rakers for soe doeing
as formerly they did And that att Michmas next the said Inhabitants have
Liberty to Appoint such other Scavengers and Rakers att their charge for
Cleaneing of the said Street for the future as they shall think fitt And itt is
further Ordered this Court that the said Inhabitants att Michmas next
have Liberty to place and maintaine a Sufficient Watch and Ward and
Convenient Stands for the Watchman att their Charge in such Convenient
places in the Square as they shall think fitt to be under comand of the Constables
of the said Division and that they be in Consideration thereof exempted from
Paying any Money to any other Scavengers or Rakers of the said Division
or to the said Constables Watch untill further Order of this Court to the
Contrary.
