"have there and that I wished to purchase it to which
"she replied that I might have as many as I pleased
"that she was the Mother of the Young Man< no role > who
"had been Confined in that place and that he was
"the Person who had Published the Account there was
"several of them laying on a Table at the Window
"she asked me how many I would have I told her I would
"take a Dozen which Number she counted out along with
"me and for which I paid her One shilling, I asked her
"several Questions about the place to which she gave a
"very ready Answer without any hisitation I asked her if
"her Son was within she said he was not and upon further
"Enquiry she said that he resided with her for the present
"till he had an Opportunity of suiting himself better in
"some other place that he was Discharged about 3 Months
"ago that a great many of the Accounts had been Sold and
"several of them had been bought for the purpose of being
"sent into the Country that she had been several times.
"to see her Son during the time he was in Confinement
"and had taken Victuals with her for him but that it
"was impossible ever to Convey it to him that she was
"always detected and had been told that if she brought
"any again that she would herself be detained; that the
"Greatest cause of Complaint of Persons in the Prison
"was that their Friends were not permitted to carry them
