<p n="517">"Seamen, He also added that the Stone was now arrived and<lb></lb>
"unloading in the River; and the Committee having considered the<lb></lb>
"same and feeling great dissatisfaction from Mr Hopcrafts defence of<lb></lb>
"himself Resolved that it be represented to the Court that he has<lb></lb>
"conducted the work in no respect agreeably to his Contract and in such<lb></lb>
"a dilatory manner as to require the interference of the Magistrates in<lb></lb>
"Session assembled.</p>
<p n="518">"Resolved that the Committee further Recommend that<lb></lb>
"the Contractor for the Masons work should be proceeded against upon<lb></lb>
"the panel part of his Contract in order to compel the due and just<lb></lb>
"Performance of it."</p>
<p n="519">And the Contract with the Said Mr Hopcraft for the Masons<lb></lb>
work being also Read, Mr Hopcraft was called in and informed by<lb></lb>
the Chairman of the great inconvenience attending his delay.</p>
<p n="520">Mr Hopcraft alledged that the delay was owing entirely<lb></lb>
to his not being able to procure the Stone faster from the Quarrys and<lb></lb>
produced a Letter from Messrs. Chinchens the Proprietors of the Quarry to<lb></lb>
that Effect and having heard what further he had to alledge.</p>
<p n="521">Resolved that Mr. Rogers the County Surveyor be desired<lb></lb>
to go to the Quarries at Swannage to view the same and to see in<lb></lb>
what forwardness the said Stone now is and to make himself<lb></lb>
compleatly master of the present state of the said Quarries and that<lb></lb>
the further consideration of this business be adjourned until after Mr.<lb></lb>
Rogers shall make his Report thereon.</p>

<p n="523">Mr. Adams the Contractor for conveying Vagrants in<lb></lb>
through and out of this County laid before the Court a Petition and the<lb></lb>
