Middlesex and Westminster }

At a General Meeting of His Majestys Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middlesex and for the City and Liberty of Westminster
holden at the Guildhall in King Street Westminster on Thursday the Eighth
day of January 1789 .

It appearing to this Meeting that the Persons who had offered
to become Security for Mr Joseph Hocken< no role > the Collector of the Tolls of Hay
and Straw in the Saint James's Haymarket had declined the same that
the said Joseph Stocken< no role > is again greatly in Arrear in his payments to the
County Treasurer and had neglected to give Security according to the Resolution
of the Court entered into at the time of his Election and that his present state
of Health is such as renders him unable to attend to the necessary duties
of his Office and prevents his attendance here this day.

Resolved that the said Joseph Stocken< no role > be suspended
from his Office until the thirteenth day of February next and that he be
then discharged from the same unless he shall in the mean time pay to
the County Treasurer the several Arrears now due from him and provide
sufficient Persons to become Security for him in future And it is a
Ordered that he do forthwith deliver all the Books Papers documents
and Accounts respecting the Receipt of the Tolls and Entries of the Sale of
Hay and Straw in the said Market to Mr Andrew Bowdler< no role > the Person
appointed to collect the same for the use of His Majestys Justices of the
Peace for the County of Middlesex and for the City and Liberty of Westminster

Resolved that Mr Andrew Bowdler< no role > be appointed to receive
the said Tolls until the said thirteenth day of February next.
