the Chairman
of the Sessions
informed the Court that some of the Society of the people called Quakers
had waited upon him since the last County day and had informed him
that they had not been able to obtain a suitable place for the ancient part
of their Poor to live in and that they were of Opinion that the Garden Ground
late in the possession of Edward Hartwright adjoining the present House of
Correction would be a convenient and proper piece of Ground whereon to
Erect a Building for that purpose and that they would (if it should be
agreeable to His Majestys Justices of the peace for the County of Middlesex
)
purchase or take the said piece of Ground upon Lease Resolved that
the Consideration of this matter be postponed till the County day of the
next Session and that notice hereof be sent to the Society of People called
Quakers and that they be desired to attend.

The Committee appointed on the last County day to Carry into Execution
the Resolution of the Court for raising the Sum of £30,000 by Tontine at £4 P Ct.
to pay for the Ground and for Erecting and building thereon a proper and
commodious House of Correction for this County and for the other purposes
mentioned in the Act of Parliament of the 26th. year of the Reign of his present
Majesty entitled "An Act to Enable the Justices of the peace for the County
of Middlesex
to raise Money in manner therein mentioned for Erecting a
House of Correction
within the said County" having laid before the Court
an Account of their proceedings and the same being Read, and it appearing
to this Court that it is necessary to appoint some Banker to Receive the
