Whereas John White< no role > of Saint Andrew Holborn Labourer
is and stand Convicted before the said Justices of a Nusance in

and the said Justices have given Judgment thereon that the said
John White< no role > be imprisoned for the term of two Years and the said John Wh< no role > [..]
having been formerly Convicted and fined for a like Offence but on an
application to the Court of Exchequer found means to procure a remession
of his said Fine This Court taking into Consideration the nature of the
said Nusance and that besides sundry other great Evils the suffering the
same must necessarily be highly injurious to the Public and to the health
of a very extensive Neighbourhood do request of Sir John Hawkins< no role >
that he will lay the Case of the said John White< no role > before the Right
Honourable the Earl of Suffolk and the Right Honourable Lord Vis [..]
Weymouth his Majestys principal Secretaries of State to the End that
they may be apprized of the same and Exercise their discretion there [..]
in Case the said John White< no role > should apply for a pardon

The Case

The nusance Complained of is as follows the Offender has long follow [..]
in and about Hockley Hole the Business of a Horse Butcher and have
been a common receiver of Stolen Horses which being bough by him
at the price of a few Shillings have whether Sound or diseased been
immediately knocked on the head after which the process has been to
feed Hogs with the Blood ad Entrails and to boil the flesh for Dogs made
the Stench arising from this business has been intolerable to such a [..]
that Journeymen Manufacturers within reach of it have threatned [..]
have their Masters declaring it was impossible to stand it prosecution
have hitherto been inefectual to restrain this horrible Nusance for
as fast as the Offender has been driven from one place he has be taken
himself to another The last he was settled in was Saffron Hill a very
populous Neighbourhood where during the Dog Days the number of Ho [..]
Slaughtered in this manner was not to be counted and the fear of a
contagion drove the Inhabitants to the necessity of this prosecution [..]
which the Offender eluded as long as he was able A Stop it is true is
thereby put to this Evil but should the Offender be suffered to regain [..]
