And the said Committee further Report.
That under the Powers given to them by an order of Session on the 8th July last
of appointing a proper person or Persons to do the Duty's of the Office of Keeper
of Clerkenwell
Bridewell
or of New Prison
in case a Vacancy in either of the said
Offices should happen before the next Session and the Committee having receiv'd
Information of the Death of Mr William Pentlow< no role >
late Keeper of New Prison
and several Applications being made to Succeed to the care of the said Prison
untill a Keeper should be appointed the said Committee unanimously made
choice of Mr James Elmore< no role >
to act as Goaler of New Prison
until a new
Goaler shall be chosen.

Which said Report being read This Court doth agree to the said Report and
doth ratify and confirm the same and the said Report is hereby in all things
ratified and confirmed accordingly.
And it is further Ordered by this Court that the Thanks of the Court be given
to the Gentlemen of the said Committee for their care and trouble in conducting
the Business refered to them: and the Thanks of the Court are hereby given to
the said Gentlemen accordingly. And it is further ordered that the said
Committee do proceed in the execution of the powers to them given by the
respective order of Reference
It appearing to this Court by the above Report of the Committee of his
Majesty's Justices appointed for the immediate and effectual Repair of
New Prison
and Clerkenwell Bridewell
That William Pentlow< no role >
Gentleman
late Goaler or Keeper of the Goal or Prison at Clerkenwell
in this County
commonly called New Prison
departed this Life since the last General Quarter
Session of the Peace holden for this County Whereby the Office P [..] or Employ
of Goaler or Keeper of the said Goal or prison is become vacant It is
therefore now ordered by this Court that the Consideration nomination
and appointment of a fit and proper person to be Goaler or Keeper of the said
Goal called new Prison
in the room or stead of the said late Keeper be
adjourned until Thursday the twenty first day of October next (being the
County day of the next Session of the Peace intended to be holden for the
said County) and it is hereby adjourned accordingly.
It is ordered That Mr Thos Rogers< no role >
do take Mr Scott and another Surveyor to his Assistance to view
the Boundary Wall mention'd in the above report of the Committee for the immediate & effectual Repair
of the Prisons And it is further ordered that as soon as the said Mr Rogers can procure such assistance
as aforesaid he do inform the Deputy Clerk of the Peace
who is hereby required to summon the said Committee
thereon.
