Bridewell .}

It is Ordered by this Court that the John Higgs< no role > Gents the Trear
of this County do pay to Henry Wallbanck< no role > the Keeper of the
house of Correction at Clerkenwell four Shillings & four Pence
in full of his account delivered in this Day for subsistance of Va-
grants in the said prison And that the Receipt of the Said Keep
together with this order shall be a discharge to the said Trear
for such payment.

Concerning Repairs at
Clerkenwell Bridewell Etc

Dated 19th Febry 1760}

The Report of the Commee of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for this County who met at Hicks Hall on the 19th day of this Instant
is delivered in by Mr Chairman signed by himself and Bartholomew< no role >
Hammond Esqr for themselves and the Rest of the Gentlemen of the said
Committee not being present and is read and confirmed, which Report is as
follows; Your Committee met in Pursuance of the Order & Appointment
of the Court at the last Session and made a further Progress upon the Report
of Mr. Harvey and Mr. Crosse of the Defects and wants of Repairs at the House
of Correction at Clerkenwell , and it appears to this Commee form the said Report
and by Examination of Henry Wallbanck< no role > the Keeper that there ought to be
proper Irons for the Hands of 2 Persons fixed on each of the three upright
Posts in the said House of Correction ; And the Brick Pavement in the Shed
being out of Repair it would be proper to pave that Place with Purbec Stone
instead of laying Brick again; And that a New Lock is much wanted to
the outer Door And that there shod. be two Keys only, both of them to be delivered
to the Keeper, And that there should not be any Key hole on the Outside of
the Door for the greater Safety of the Prison That the Holes and Defects in the
Flooring of the Room or Chamber called that Womens ward be forthwith made
good and that the Collar Windows mentd. in the said Report be repaired
and that the several Bovls mentd. in the said Report be imediately unstop'd
and rectified and this Committee are of Opinion that the sd Defects Decays
and Wants of Repairation of the said Prison should be first presented in the
General Session of the Peace by the Grand Inquest of the said County on
Proper Testimony according to the Act of Parliament in that Behalf, And
in Regard the said Report was made so long since as the 12th. of December
your Commee are apprehensive that some other Things may now be also be
necessary to be done to repair the said Goal towards accomplishing of which
Mr. Hammond and Mr Mainwaring now present are desired by the rest
of the Committee and are pleas'd to undertake to go with Mr. Harvey and
Mr Crosse
