the Report of the Committee appointed for inspecting the Prisons
which Report subscribed by than the said Mr Harvey and Mr Crosse being
of the Committee is as follows Vizt.

We, pursuant to discretion of last Sessions went to the House of
Correction at Clerkenwell
, when we found only One Woman at hard Labours
and one Man retained for his Fees who was discharged next day.
We, viewed the Workshop and found every thing in good Order, only
there was wanting Irons to the up right Posts, to hold the hands of
those that wont work, the Irons there being useless.
We viewed the pasement in the Shed, which is with Brick and the
same in much out Repair.
Mr. Walbank informed us, that there wanted a New Lock with three
Keys for the outside Door of the Prisons as also that there were several
Holes in the Floor of the Womens Ward.
And also the two Windows that belong to the Tap house Cellar want
repairing part of the Brick and Wood Work, being fell down.
He informed us of the several Bowls up Stairs which ar allowed for
the Men to make use of in the Night, are most of them stop't by which
means, the Nuisance cannot go into the Troughs in New Prison
Garden
and into the Sewer.
We went likewise to New Prison
and found only two Persons there
for their Fees, a Man and a Woman, the Man was discharged and
the Woman desired to stay to do the Work of the House.
Which report being read and approved It is Ordered that the Matters
therein represented necessary to be done be and they are hereby
referred to the Commee of his Majestys Justices of the Peace
for the
said County appointed to meet on the Tuesday before the next Session
to take much Order for the Performance of the same as they shall judge
necessary.
