That there is no Publick Allowance whatsoever for the poor Prisoners
in the Said Prison confined as there is to the Several Prisons of
Newgate and Bridewell Etc. whereby the Said William Pentlow< no role >
as Keeper aforesaid is frequently in Compassion obliged to Subsist
divers Prisoners while in his Custody to prevent their parishing
for want; And that the Said Committee in Consideration of the
abovementioned Premisses, and also that it appears that the Fees
taken by the Said William Pentlow< no role > as Keeper of the Said Prison
upon the discharge of Prisoners from the Said Prison hath been
reduced lower than what was taken heretofore by his Predecessors
in the Said Office, upon the whole are of opinion that an annual
Sum of thirty Pounds be paid unto the Said William Pentlow< no role > as
Keeper of the Said Prison by the Treasurer of this County for and
during the Pleasure of the Court: Now upon Consideration had by
this Court at this present Quarter Session of the Matters aforesaid
Specified in the Said Report which Stands adjourned to this
present County Day the Seventeenth day of January instant This Court being Satisfied of the Truth
of the Premisses is of opinion and doth accordingly Order that an
annual Sum of thirty Pounds be from henceforth paid unto the
Said William Pentlow< no role > as Keeper of New Prison aforesaid by the
Treasurer of this County for and during the Pleasure of the Court
of Session of the Peace for the Said County by Quarterly Payments,
And that the Receipts of the Said Keeper together with this Order
Shall from time to time be Sufficient Discharges to the Said
Treasurer for Such Payments, which Report is and Stands
confirmed by this Court.
