By adjornment on Thursday the eighth day
of Sept 1743

Order for Mr. John
Higgs the County
Trearer to pay five
guineas to Mr. Robt.
montgomery

Information being given unto this Court by Francis
Hole
< no role > Esqr . and other his Maties Justices of the peace for
this County residing in Finsbury Division that
pursuant to an Order of the last Quarter Sessions of the
peace for this County bearing date the thirtyeth
day of June last they met together and used their
endeavours for the suppressing of loose idle & disorderly
persons such as Players of Interludes or Drolh
Gamesters & other Vagabonds assembled at a
pretended Fair called the Welch Fair in the parish
of St James Clerkenwell within the said Division
by causeing divers of them to be comitted to the House
of Correction, and to be dealt with according to Law,
And that Mr. Robert Montgomery< no role > who attended them
as their Clerk and was very diligent in assisting the
said Justices in & about the premisses had expended
for printing four hundred copys of the said Order of
sessions and for twice publishing the same in the
Daily Advertiser in Order to prevent disorders from
being comitted at the said pretended Fair and
for other matters in & about the premisses amounting
in the whole to the sum of three pounds two shillings
and six pence, of which a bill of particulars is now
laid before this Court, This Court is of opinion
And doth accordingly Order that the said Robert
Montgomery be not only paid the said sum of
£3.2s.6d but that he be also allowed & paid for his
trouble & paines in & about the premisses the further
Sum of £2.2s.6d. to make up the sum to be paid to
him five guineas in the whole, which this Court
doth Order Mr. John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of this County
to pay out of the County Rents unto the said Robert
Montgomery accordingly, And the said Treasurer is
to be allowed the same upon his account,
