same Month of August, And that both the said Committees assembled
on the said Tenth Day of August last were of Opinion that the
following reparations will be Sufficient for the amendment of the
said Bridge for both Countys
Middx Side
That the Wharf abutment or breast
Work at the foot of the said Bridge be
new done and the following piles in
each pier be new
In the First pier, one pile
In the fourth, one pile
In the fifth, two piles
In the Sixth, one pile
The planking on the Sides of the Great
Arch to be new
In the Ninth pier, one pile & two
Trussell Heads< no role >
One Joist over the Twelfth pier to be
made new
That the planking from one end to
the other be taken up & to be made
good where wanting.
Surry side
That the following piles in each pier be new
In the first from the middle of the Ruor
four piles
In the Second, two piles
In the third, two piles
In the fourth, two piles
In the fifth, three piles
In the Sixth, one pile
In the Seventh, two piles
In the Eighth, three piles and the planking
very bad
In the Ninth, two piles
The head Wall to be now done and the
Wharf to be repaired towards the head,
And the planking from one end to the
other be taken up, and to be made good
where wanting.
And we do further Certify that the said Committees assembled
on the said Thirty first Day of August last cause to the
following Resolution, to wit,That such repairs as shall be
thought necessary to be made to Chertsea Bridge
as well for
the County of Middx
as for the County of Surry be made at one
and the same time, And that it was the Opinion of both the
Committees that the same ought to be begunn the beginning
of April 1744 And we do also Certify that an Account or Estimate
of the repairs necessary to be done to the Middx side of Chertsea
Bridge
and the Costs and Charges thereof was delivered to us
on the said thirty first Day of August last by Mr.
Stedman a Surveyor
who viewed the same and when We and
the said Committee of Justices of the peace
for the County of
Surry have resolved & agreed to be Surveyor of the reparations
to be done to the said Bridge, a Copy of which Estimate is hereunto
annexed, And we are of Opinion that any Workman who is
willing to undertage to do the said repairs may be at Liberty
to inspect the said estimate, and to leave his proposall in
writing with Mr. John Higgs< no role >
