Order for confirming a
Report concerning the accounts
of Mr. Higgs the County
Trearer , and for carrying
on his account of paymts.
wch. he Shall make between
this & next February Sessions,
and to take into consideration
at that Sessions the making
a new Rate, And for the
Comittee to consider of a
method for obtaining
arrears from the Tower
Liberty, And for Mr. Higgs< no role >
to be allowd 5 guineas
for precepts to raise the
County Rate money,
travelling charges Etc.}

Whereas Sr. Edward Hill< no role > Knt. Nicholas Jeffreys< no role > Geroge Tarry< no role >
John Poulson< no role > & George Errington< no role > Esquires being a Quorum of
the Committee of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for the
County of Middx appointed to inspect & adjust the publick
accounts of the Said County have by their Report in writing
made in pursuance of an Order of the last Sessions Certifyed to
this Court That they have perused & inspected the account of Mr.
John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of the County of Middx of all moneys
received & paid Since the last Settling of his Account, And that
they do find that the Said Mr. Higgs has reced on the last Rate
made in December Sessions 1739 for £800. the Sum of £794:7s:11d.
And that the Assessment made on the Tower Liberty being the
Sum of £5..12s..1d has not been reced by reason that Thomas Hill< no role >
the high Constable being a Bankrupt, And that it appears that the
Said Mr. Higgs has paid out of the Same the Sum of £600..3s..5d. and
produced vouchers before the Committee for the Same, which
has reduced the Said Sum of in the Said Mr. Higgs hands to the
Sum of £194..4s..6d. And that it appears to the Said Committee
that three fourths of the Said Rate has been expended and laid out
for the publick use of this County, And that the Committee are
also of opinion that a New Rate may be made for raiseing of
money for rebuilding of Brentford Bridge and for other ends &
purposes as mentioned in the Act of parliament it for the more
easy assessing collecting and levying of County Rates, And that
it also appears by Mr. Higgs last account that the ballance of
the account of the Marshalsea King's Bench & hospitalls and
the Vagrant Rate then Settled a mounted to the Sum of £120..17s..0d.
which the Said Mr. Higgs has brought to his present account, and
also the Sum of £5..5s..6d. reced of Thomas Rea< no role > Esquire being the
ballance of his account as Treasurer of Westminster , which two
Sums amount unto the Sum of £126..2s.6d. This Court upon
reading the Said Report doth ratify & confirm the Same, And
doth referr it to the Said Committee to carry on the Account of
the Said Mr. Higgs as to what moneys he Shall pay and
disburse as Treasurer between this Sessions and the next
Generall Sessions of the peace for the Said County, And to make
their Report thereof to the Same Sessions, At which Sessions the
making a new Rate for the purposes mentioned in the Said
Act of Parliament is to be taken into consideration, And as
to the Said Sum of £5..12s..1d. assessed upon the Said Tower Liberty
and yet in arrear & unpaid to the Said Treasurer This Court
