The Deft keeps a Common Bawdy house (as described in ye Indictment) upon <rs type="placeName" id="LMSLPS15053_geo399">Ludgate hill</rs>

the Bunch of Grapes with his Name upon it where all Sorts of Strong Liquors are sold for ye Entertainmt<lb></lb>
of loose persons of both Sexes at all hours both Night and day To ye Great Nusance and disturbance of<lb></lb>
the Neighbourhood who are most of them Creditable and Substantial Tradesmen</p>
<p n="329">The Deft having for this Offence been returned by the Wardmote Inquest was ordered to be prosecud<lb></lb>
at the City's Expence You will observe he is Stiled Stay maker in the Indictment, It seems ye Gentleman to<lb></lb>
account in some measure for ye great Number of females resorting to his house gives out that he<lb></lb>
follows ye Business of Staymaking, But as We shall be able to prove that all ye Ladies pick up Men in ye<lb></lb>

That frequently in the Night time Men and Women go in and out of Defts<lb></lb>
house, that ye Women are Comon Street Walkers and frequently Pick up Men in the<lb></lb>

and Deponents have carried some of the Women who ledge or frequent Defts house to<lb></lb>
the Watchhouse for Common Street Walkers & Say Defts house is a Notorious<lb></lb>
