The Information of Thomas Walton< no role > Shopman
to Messrs. Edward Harvey< no role > and John Dye< no role > Mens Mercers
of Saint Martins le Grand in the Liberty of
Westminster taken before me this 4th. day of
December 1789.

Who being on Oath says, that this day about one o'Clock
the Person now present who calls herself Mary Russell< no role > came into
his Master Shop and asked for some Rasen grey saving Silk
which Informant shewed her, and she bought four Drachms
which came to Six pence Half penny, that as soon as said
Mary Russell< no role > went out of the Shop, Informant missed from the
Parcel of Silk he had shewn her, one head of Raven Grey< no role > Sewing
Silk containing about Eight Ounces in weight, that Informant
immediatly pursued said Mary Russell< no role > and brought her back
and Charged her with having Stolen some Silk, to which she
Replied that she had not, that Informant then moved her from
a Stood at one Corner of the Shop where she had seated herself andthenfound upon the Ground
Close to said Mary Russell< no role > , the head of Silk now Produced,
which he is sure is the property of his said Master And
that he is very certain said Silk was not upon the Ground at
the time he brought said Mary Russell< no role > back and Charged
her with having Stolen The Silk as aforesaid
