taken on Oath
before me this 29th. day of May 1789.
Who being Oath severally say and first the
Said Peter Lesley< no role >
for himself says that on Saturday Night the
9th. of May instant the Window of little house Situated
between the Garden and Yard belonging to his Master at
Highbury House was broke open and four Coats two pair
of Corduroy breeches One Shirts one pair of brown thread
Stockings Two Guineas and one half Guinea in gold laying
upon a Desk in said little house were feloniously Stolen
therein That at this time the prisoner Edward Smith< no role >
was
a Labouring Gardener to this Informant and the next Morning
was to have come to Work but did not that having Reason
to Suspect Said Smith was the felon he pursued him to
East Sheene on Wednesday last and there apprehended him
and where he found upon his person the blue Coat and Shirt
now produced being part of the property Stolen from him
as aforesaid And the said William Scott< no role >
for himself says
that on Saturday night the 9th. May instant between Ten and
Eleven o Clock he metthe Parissaid Edward Smith< no role >
at
Highbury Place
going from Islington
towards Highbury Barn
whom this Informant asked where he was going Who
Replied he was going to Ponders End
to see for a Game Cook
that after this they Drank together and said Smith went
away towards Highbury Barn
And the said Joseph
Chambers< no role >
for himself says that on the same night
