The Voluntary Examination of James Clarke< no role >
taken on Oath before me William Blackborow< no role > Esqr .
One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and
for the said County this 8th. day of March 1787

Who on his Oath saith that he hath known the Prisoner Thomas
Taylor
< no role > for a considerable time past that about five Months ago
the said Thomas Taylor< no role > went to lodge asWilliam Trott< no role > 's the
younger at the Corner of Goats Yard White Cross Street Saint Lukes
where he Remained for [..] about the space of Five Months where
this Examinant hath frequently Seen him by calling there to see the
said William Trott< no role > who is an Acquaintance of this Examinants
That about a Months ago the said Thomas Taylor< no role > went to lodge
at a House in Golden Lane kept by the Father of the said William
Trott
< no role > . and where Examinant had a Room to work in That this
Examinant hath frequently heard the said Thomas Taylor< no role > say
that one Athill who was an Evidence against Richard Stephens< no role >
Henry Fossett< no role > & others was a bloody Rogue and deserved Hanging
more than they did and Should be glad if he the said Athill
wad Dead and that it was the Common talk in the House
that the Prisoner Thomas Taylor< no role > was obliged to be out of the
Way for the Robbery of Mr Collier at Islington and that he the said Thomas
Taylor
< no role > would be hanged if taken upon Athills Evidence
and this Examinant was particularly desired by the said
Thomas Taylor< no role > [..] to keep Secret his place of Residence
and not give Intelligence thereof to any person whatever
for that it might come to the Runners knowledge and they
would offer to lay Examinant a Guinea or so that he did not
know where the said Thos. Taylor< no role > was to be found and by that
means he the said Thos. Taylor should be taken and therefore the
said Thos. Taylor particularly cautioned Examt. not to speak of it
to any Persons which Examt. promised to do.
