The Information of John Stainbank< no role > Master and Part
Owner of the Sloop Britannia now lying at Horsely down Stairs
in the County of Surry and John Richardson< no role > of Greenwick
in the County of Kent Waterman and Excise Officer. Taken
this Twenty second day of February 1785 before us Two
of his Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said
County.

Who being on their Oaths severally say and first the said John Stainbank< no role > for himself
Saith that on Thursday night or Friday Morning last his said Sloop lying thin at West Lane Stairs was
Boarded by Some persons as he has been Informed whofeloniouslytook and Carried
away Two Bags of Cotton. but who the persons were that stole the same he this
Informant knoweth not or can tellAnd the said John Richardson< no role > for himself
Saith that he was stationed on Board the said Sloop [..] by the Commissioners of his
Majestys Excise and was at the time the above mentioned Robbery was Committed
on Board the said SloopSloopand that these was a Box on Board the said [..] Sloop
Containing a Great Coat a pair of Trowsers [..] three Gauging Rules a Funnell and some spiles which said Box and the
Contents thereof are the property of this Informant. and was stolen in the said Ship the [..] time abovementioned Further Saith that he verily believes
the Great Coat, TrowsersandGuaging Rules particularly the One on which her Name is wrote as also the Funnel and spiles now produced are the same which together with
the Box werefeloniouslytaken and Carried away as aforesaid, and that three persons now
here present who call themselves Alexander [..] Faulkner< no role > James Turner< no role > and Elias Abrahams< no role > are the persons
who Stole the same.
William Elbey< no role > says he found the Gauging rules now produced.the [..] the Two Gimblets
the piece of Small Iron chain and Tin Funnel likewise produced on Friday Morning last between the
Heand the Old hours of Seven and Eight Great Coat Blue with frequents of Cotton thereon in the House of Mrs. Chafey in Williams Court New Gravel Lane St. George and
at the same time he found Alexander Falconer< no role > [..] in the said house and on Monday last he found the
Trowsers now produced in the said house

George Forrester< no role > for himself saith he was with the said William Elbee< no role > at the Appreharding Alexander
Falconer
< no role > [..] in the house of Mrs. Chafey in Williams Court aforesaid and saw the Rules Gimblets piece
of Small Iron chain Tin Funnel and the Old Blue Great Coat now produced in the hands of the said William Elbey< no role >
likewise the Cornsack marked [..] .Mauning in the said house between the hours of Seven and Eight on Friday
Morning last say he went from the said Mrs. Chafey to Mrs. Dorman in Elbow Lane Shadwell where
he found James Turner< no role > and Elias Abrahams< no role > in the Garret where was John Orange< no role > who had Secured
the said James Turner< no role > - says he found the Dark coloured Bag and dirt coloured great Coat with
Fragments of Cotton thereon now produced in the said Garret
